Family medicine

The family practice has a concession and provides regular and preventive care within the Health Insurance Institute of Slovenia health insurance.

You do not have to wait for your first appointment at the family practice. However, you do have to book an appointment beforehand. The patients with an appointment always have priority over those who do not, no matter their hour of arrival. Urgent cases are the exception.

In the case of urgent, life-threatening medical conditions and fresh injuries, we provide immediate medical examination.

Outside the clinic’s opening hours, in the case of urgent, life-threatening medical conditions and fresh injuries, emergency medical assistance is provided by the NOVO MESTO URGENT TREATMENT CENTRE, Šmihelska cesta 1, 8000 Novo mesto, or by paramedics after dialling 112.

The visit with your chosen family doctor is free. The costs are covered by the Health Insurance Institute of Slovenia within the individual’s health insurance.

You can get vaccinated at the family practice. Some are covered by the Health Insurance Institute of Slovenia, and you must pay for some by yourself. You can get vaccinated against tetanus, tick-borne encephalitis, flu, etc. Please book an appointment and have your vaccination booklet with you. If you had a reaction to any of the vaccines, please inform the doctor or the nurse beforehand.

At the family practice, we provide preventive care, i.e., for individuals with a family history of cardiovascular disease, hypercholesterolemia, dyslipidaemia, and diabetes, within the individual’s health insurance.

We guarantee a substitute doctor in accordance with the instructions of the Health Insurance Institute of Slovenia.
